76th Annual North East Firemen’s Cherry Festival Fund Drive to Start May 30, 2023
The 76th Annual North East Firemen’s Cherry Festival will be held at Heard Park (40 North Lake Street. North East, PA 16428) on July 5 – 8, 2023. The annual joint fundraiser benefits Fuller Hose Company #1 and Crescent Hose Company #2 of North East.
Starting Tuesday, May 30th the volunteers of Fuller Hose Company #1 will be hitting the streets of North East Township, going door-to-door nightly, between 6:00pm – 8:00pm, collecting monetary donations in exchange for cash raffle tickets. For each dollar you donate, you can receive a cash raffle ticket which can be turned in during the festival for a chance to win any of the nightly cash drawings.
The township is broken into four equal parts and each week members of the department will visit each home in that area, the weekly boundaries are as follows:
Week 1: May 30th – June 2nd (Route 20 north to Lake Erie and west of Route 89 to Moorheadville Road)
Week 2: June 5th – 9th (Route 20 south to Townline Road and west of Route 89 to Moorheadville Road)
Week 3: June 12 – 16th (Route 20 north to Lake Erie and east of Route 89 to the NY state line)
Week 4: June 19th – 23rd (Route 20 south to Townline Road and east of Route 89 to the NY state line)
“The funds raised during Cherry Festival primarily pay the departments annual insurance premiums with remaining funds going into our general operating budget which we use to make purchases and pay bills related to running a voluteer fire company.” said, Chris Skrekla, President of Fuller Hose Company #1. “The funds allows us to continue preserve life and property in the community with the latest life saving equipment.” All residents of the community regardless if you own or rent your home are encouraged to donate during the weeks of the fund drive campaign. According to census data there are approximately 2,469 homes in North East Township. “Most of the volunteers prepackage their tickets in packs of 25, 50 and 100. “The North East township residents have always been most generous over the years and we look forward to seeing everyone soon.” Skrekla said. The volunteers can accept cash or checks during their visits, checks can be made payable to: Fuller Hose Company #1 or North East Fire Department.
