Fuller Hose Company #1 Enhances Situational Awareness with New Pagers Thanks to Erie Gives Day 2025 Support
North East, PA — Fuller Hose Company #1 is proud to announce a major enhancement to firefighter safety and response capabilities with the purchase of new pagers, made possible through the generosity of donors during Erie Gives Day 2025.
In 2019, the Erie County Department of 911 transitioned to a next generation radio system, significantly improving communication for first responders across the county. However, while on-scene communications moved to a digital system, fire department dispatching remained on an analog system. This created a challenge for firefighters, who could receive call alerts but often lacked complete details of the emergency in its earliest stages.
Thanks to community donations on Erie Gives Day, Fuller Hose Company #1 has acquired new pagers that allow members to monitor both analog dispatching and digital radio traffic from Erie County 911. This important upgrade greatly increases situational awareness, ensuring that firefighters have access to more complete information as calls are dispatched and as they respond to emergencies.
“These new pagers are a game-changer for our volunteers,” said Chris Skrekla, captain of Fuller Hose Company #1. “They allow our team to be better informed, better prepared, and ultimately better equipped to protect our community.”
Fuller Hose Company #1 extends heartfelt thanks to the Erie Community Foundation, the North East Community Foundation, and the many donors who participated in Erie Gives Day 2025. These life-saving improvements would not have been possible without their support.
